🔎 HISTORY:
The AVE Series 100 is Spain’s first generation of high-speed trains, introduced in 1992 to inaugurate the Madrid–Sevilla line for the Expo ’92. Based on the French TGV Atlantique design, these trains were adapted for Spain’s wide-gauge infrastructure and hot climate.
Capable of reaching 300 km/h, the Series 100 reduced travel time between Madrid and Seville to just 2½ hours, marking a new era of modern rail travel in Spain. Each set consists of power cars at both ends and eight passenger coaches, offering First (Preferente) and Tourist (Turista) classes. The Series 100 laid the foundation for Spain’s extensive AVE network, symbolizing speed, reliability, and technological innovation in Spanish rail history.
