Released in Japan on April 1, 1984 by LaserDisc Corporation (Pioneer Electronic Corporation) under license from MGM/UA Home Video (catalog reference FY101-45MG), this landmark release represents the very dawn of optical home video cinema.
This deluxe collector's edition features the exceptionally rare original blue triangular corner cap OBI strip (コーナー帯)—an early LaserDisc design element notoriously difficult to find intact today—bearing the original ¥10,800 retail price. Housed in a heavyweight Gatefold jacket featuring the classic chariot sculpture artwork, Japanese essay and liner notes by critic Masahiro Ogi (荻昌弘), and two optical discs (4 sides CLV, 222 minutes complete running time) preserved in their original protective inner sleeves.
